Guided Walking Adventures for Active Retirees

Surfattic Ltd has been curating authentic walking experiences across Waterford's most scenic landscapes since 2019. We're passionate about connecting people with history, nature, and community through thoughtfully designed trail experiences.

How It Started

We didn't start as a walking company. Three of us retired in 2019 and spent months exploring Waterford's trails. We realized something was missing — there weren't organized walks designed specifically for people like us who wanted adventure without overexertion.

Finding the Gap

Most trail guides cater to either casual strollers or hardcore hikers. There's nothing in between. We'd spend afternoons researching historical sites, mapping distances, and identifying paths with proper footing. Friends kept asking us for recommendations. That's when we realized we could do this properly.

Building the Program

We didn't just mark trails on a map. We've walked every route dozens of times. We know where the benches are, which sections get muddy in winter, where the best views emerge, and which stops are too steep for certain folks. Each walk is tested, refined, and documented with real photos — not stock images.

Today's Reality

We've guided over 2,300 people through Norman Keep ruins, along Dunmore East cliffs, and around harbour villages since 2019. We're not rushing. We're not cutting corners. surfattic Ltd does one thing well — creating walking experiences that respect your pace and enrich your perspective on Waterford.

How We Approach Every Walk

We've developed a methodology that balances exploration with comfort. Here's what makes our walks different from casual wandering or commercial group tours.

Detailed Route Planning

Every walk is measured, photographed, and tested multiple times. We know elevation changes, ground conditions, and realistic timing before you arrive.

Historical Context

We've researched Norman Keep architecture, harbour development, and medieval moat field systems. You're not just walking — you're learning the story of each location.

Small Group Sizes

We cap groups at 12 people. Smaller groups mean better conversation, more flexibility, and genuine connection rather than herding.

Flexible Pacing

We're not racing. If you need a longer break at a scenic spot or want to explore something more carefully, we adjust. Your experience matters more than our schedule.

Weather Preparation

Waterford weather changes quickly. We provide guidance on appropriate clothing and monitor conditions in real-time to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Personal Connection

Our guides aren't reciting scripts. We're experienced walkers sharing our genuine passion for these landscapes and what makes them special.

What Drives surfattic Ltd

We're not trying to be everything to everyone. These four principles shape every decision we make.

1

Authenticity Over Marketing

We don't embellish the walks or oversell the experience. What you see is what you get. We'd rather have 20 people who genuinely loved a walk than 200 disappointed ones.

2

Safety as Foundation

Every walk undergoes safety assessment. We know the hazards, we communicate them clearly, and we build routes that let you focus on enjoyment rather than worry.

3

Respect for Your Time

We don't pad walks with unnecessary stops or filler content. We respect that your time is valuable. What we offer is curated, meaningful, and worth your investment.

4

Community Building

Walking shouldn't be isolating. We've created an environment where regular participants become friends, where new people feel welcomed, and where shared experiences strengthen social bonds.

What We Know

Over five years, we've developed deep knowledge of Waterford's walking landscape. Our guides aren't just trained — they're genuinely knowledgeable about the routes, the history, and the best practices for group walking. We've studied Norman architectural heritage, documented harbour development patterns, and mapped seasonal changes across our favourite trails. But more importantly, we've learned what matters to active retirees: pacing that feels right, stops that feel meaningful, and experiences that feel worth remembering.
